Pagan Pride March in Central London
Posted by Fiacharrey under News
On May 28th, a Pagan Pride march in England attracted over 700 participants. The event sparked discussion about how modern Pagans suffer discrimination that would be intollerable if it were against Jews or Muslims. “An Essex schoolteacher was suspended from his post in 2000 when he revealed that he was a “witch” and coven member as well as the Pagan Federation’s national youth manager.”
There was one participant, a lawyer named Mike, that I could really relate to. He is a lawyer like myself and “was at pains to preserve his anonymity.” Similarly, though I am somewhat active in the Pagan community, I know that going public in my local community could be devastating to my small private practice. Maybe some day, I can come “out of the broom closet” so to speak. But, I don’t see that day coming any time soon, unfortunately.
Hat tip to Joe.
